Caveats
What's not in the calculator
- Fuel and vehicle running costs. As an independent contractor, vehicle expenses are yours. Track them: most are tax-deductible against your income.
- Insurance. CTP plus comprehensive with a commercial passenger transport endorsement. Premiums vary substantially by vehicle and history.
- Tax. The headline number is gross. Plan for income tax and (if registered) GST.
- Cancellation Fees and tips. The schedule is in the Payment Terms. Worked into the calculator? No — too variable to model honestly.
- PTSS Subsidies. If you do taxi work, PTSS subsidies are a 0% pass-through to your wallet. The calculator assumes rideshare.
